Ballet Rehearsal

On Thursday, May 29th, Grace had her dress rehearsal for her upcoming recital. It was almost as much fun as the actual recital.

As soon as nap was over (well, I had to wake her up early for it), we went to get her hair fixed by Ms. Laura. I am all thumbs and since I wasn't sure what to do with her hair for Saturday, I thought Ms. Laura could fix it first, then I could copy it. The professional photos were Thursday and the recital was too early on Saturday to get Laura to fix it then. Grace wasn't in the best mood, but allowed Ms. Laura to fix it and then left it alone because I told her that Ms. Shawn (her teacher) said she had to wear it that way. Ms. Laura did a great job considering she had such a small amount of hair to work with!
After her hair was done, we picked up Rachel and took off for the recital. It was really long and chaotic, but getting to watch Grace was worth the headache (literally!).

Grace was in 3 songs; one ballet, one tap and the grand finale. They did the finale first, so that as people finished their numbers they could leave. Because Grace is one of the youngest kids, she was on the front row, which meant we could actually see her (there were a ton of kids). She cracked Rachel and I up because she pretty much just laid on the floor and watched all the people dancing around her. She even got danced on at one point, but just scooted away and continued to lay there!

Her ballet dance was next. I love the costume they chose - I thought she was the most adorable ballerina I have ever seen. For the dance, Ms. Shawn put her on her spot then continued to show other girls where to stand. By the time she was done, Grace had lost her spot and had to be walked back to it. They started the music and Grace's dance was just a little different than everyone else's. They were doing a ballet dance and she was doing the potty-dance! The poor thing was almost in tears she had to go so badly! About half-way through, she walked off and someone took her backstage!

Between the ballet and tap, Rachel and I sat with her and watched her playing, dancing and snacking with her friends. It was a joy to me to see her having so much fun.
My little Indian:
A million years later it was finally her turn to do her tap dance. I took her to potty about 20 minutes before her turn in hopes that she would dance. This time, she danced her little heart out! I can tell that she likes tap dance a LOT!
We went to take our turn getting her photo taken, then we were finally able to come home! What was supposed to take an hour and a half took almost 3.5 hours! We were all a little tired and worn out, but had a lot of fun.

Kate loves the video and doesn't care that grace isn't dancing. That is soo funny!
