Zoo Field Trip

Grace's class is learning all about animals right now, so what better way to learn about animals than by going to the zoo? Grace was really not interested in participating in the class when we first arrived. I think she thought I was dropping her off or something. But, within an hour or so, she was excited to be with her friends and teacher. She was off!

She said her favorite animal was the bengal tiger - because Princess Jasmine has one. She also really had fun checking out the snakes (yuck) and the tortoises. We bought a bag of feed for the goats, llamas and deer. Last time we went to the zoo (almost a year ago), one of the deer snatched her entire bag of feed. I was amazed that she remembered that. As soon as she saw the deer, she brought me the bag to hold. She told me she didn't want the deer to take her bag again.

Look at me, mama!

On Friday, February 6th, we went to the park with a large group of our friends. Grace wanted me to go swing her, but I told her no. She went to the swings and finally started swinging herself! I have told her several times to point her feet where she wanted the swing to go and it finally clicked for her. She is so proud of herself and loves swinging by herself now. Of course, she still wants me to push her so she can be higher than her friends. She is so competitive. I have no idea where she gets that from.

Getting closer to being done...

February has been busy thus far! We have had quite a few Valentine's activites, school field trips and lots of fun with daddy on the weekends.

For my present from Grace for Valentine's, we painted a plate together. I had a great time watching her be artistic. Towards the end, I had to take the plate a way and try to explain that more is not always better. She made a group of flowers with a butterfly. As soon as it gets back from being "fired" I will post a photo of it.Here we are baking together! We had a lot of bananas, so we turned 3 of them into muffins for her to bring to school. She LOVES cooking with me and is getting quite good at it!At the school Valentine's party, she got a beautiful heart lollipop from Aubrey, homemade Marshmellow sprinkle pops from Ava and Grace - and tons of other goodies. In one of these photos, you can see the ladybug cards she made for her pals.

Still Updating....

Goodness, December is finally done. Here are January photos. The sad thing is that I haven't been writing down funny things that Grace has said/done. I hope they come back to me so I can share! (oh, and my personal life is just as behind as this blog, btw. I just had my truck inspected today...the sticker expired in December!).

Grace playing with her favorite teenager!Grace has her very own sense of style. I think I have said before, but I take this opportunity to say again, SHE DRESSES HERSELF. I totally did not pick this one out.
Grace and daddy making beautiful music.
Nonni came to visit us the weekend of the Superbowl. We also celebrated "The Great's" birthday. So, Grace helped Nonni bake a cake and then decorate it. Grace picked out the colors and the decorations. I have to say, the gaudiest cake I ever did see. But, she was SO very proud!

Our Little Vacation

Over Christmas and New Year's, we went to visit Jeff's mom. We had a great time hanging out with her and Gordon. After a few days at their home, we headed to the mountains for a snow-filled holiday. Grace really enjoyed playing in the snow - esp making snow angels and throwing snow at anyone and everyone. We all loved sliding down the mountain on Nandy's snow discs. She got us to pull her around a few times, but after a while, we had to jump on and enjoy the fun with her.

One of the things that Grace really loved was doing puzzles. She has always loved puzzles, and for Christmas, we got her some jigsaw puzzles. Every day, almost the entire time we were inside, she wanted to do puzzles. Of course, we all love puzzles, so we had to do a big one, too! We finished that sucker in just a couple of days - and we still had time to play, eat and sleep!

On New Year's Eve, we toasted marshmellows in the firepit in Nandy's backyard!

We also hit a couple of museums. First, we went to see some of Nandy's art work:
Then, we went to the children's musuem - where all Grace wanted to do was shop! Now that is my kid!
