Working Out

I have been working out again (yay!) and Grace likes to do it with me! She is so stinking cute!

Aunt Kim's Visit

This past weekend, Grace was able to spend time with Aunt Kim and her family. She hasn't seen Uncle David since she was 18 months old and has never met the girls. She totally fell in love with them!

On Friday night, we went to the Oasis where Grace followed Shelly and Jamie around every where. The entire ride home, she kept asking where they were (different car). She adds a Miss in front of Shelly's name!

On Saturday, we went to Sea World with them. She LOVED hanging all over Shelly who is just strong enough to swing her all over the place, help her with flips on bars, and ride Grace on her shoulders. Every time the rest of the family would disappear to ride something Grace was too small for, she kept asking, "Where are my people? They are my favorites."

We can't wait to see them again!

Sleep Over With Aubrey

Unfortunately, Jen got sick and had to go the hospital not too long back (5-12-08) and Aubrey (not unfortunately) got to come stay the night with us since her daddy was out of town. When Grace woke up, she was so excited to see Aubrey come out of "Nandy-Nonni's Room." The girls had a great time playing together, then going to Kindermusik together, where Jen met up with us (she had an infection). Grace even color-coordinated her clothes to match Aubrey! (Typical Grace - she always has to match something!)

Updates!

I can't believe what a slacker I have been about updating her blog! I have been so busy with Grace that I haven't been able to get in here as often. Just some quick funnies she has said (done) over the past week or so....

A while back she was sitting in my lap playing with the stapler as I typed an e-mail. She used up all the staples and then opened it up to see why it wasn't working. She looked up at me and told me that the stapler "needs new batteries."

Tuesday morning (5-27-08) she woke really early (about 5-ish) because her foot was stuck in her bed rails. She couldn't go back to sleep, so I brought her to our room and let her play in the bed while I slept ;) She finally fell back to sleep around 7:30. Well, my alarm went off at 8:15. When I saw her eyes open, I said that it was time to get up because the sun was awake (what she tells me all the time). She said, "I'm gonna sleep one more minute." I laughed and got out of bed and went to the bathroom to start getting ready. She yelled out, "Mommy, shut the door (the lights!). I told her okay and pushed the door to. Then I heard her say, "That is so RUDE!" the she got up and slammed the door all the way shut, got back in my bed and slept another 20 minutes. Is she my child or what?

Every thing is her favorite now. When we are talking about anything or anyone she really likes, she says, "That is my favorite." We have favorite dolls, potties, people and towels! When Kate was coming over to play she told me, "I like Kate. She is my favorite!"

Can you believe that my girl is turning 3 in less than a month? I can't! But, I look at her and she isn't a baby any more. And, I don't mean in looks alone. She is even acting older and older each day! I understand why parents always say they wish the could freeze time occasionally. Notice I said occasionally....when she has a tantrum, I want to fast forward it! :)

Speaking of tantrums, we have had a great few weeks with little- to-no tantrums! I am so proud, even though I'm sure it won't last long! She is playing even better with her friends, though she still isn't too excited about waiting her turn!

Mother's Day Weekend

This Mother's Day weekend was a ton of fun. We spent the entire weekend together, not really hanging out with anyone else.

On Saturday, we participated in a Cystic Fibrosis 5k walk. We borrowed a jogging stroller from our friend Jen and Grace kicked back and enjoyed the entire walk! Jeff and I were proud of ourselves for completing the entire 5k track in a good time. Grace wasn't ready to stop walking when it was over!

They had some games set up for the kids and Grace loved playing in the bubbles. She also got hold of a water gun and totally drenched her daddy! I think he deserved it, since his favorite activity was throwing footballs at me when I wasn't watching!
After wards, we grabbed lunch and ate at a park where Grace played a little more. Of course, no trip down town is complete without stopping for Nose-cones!

On Mother's Day, we pretty much just stuck around the house. We picked up Sonic and took it to the neighborhood pool where we had a picnic and swam. It was pretty cold because of the wind and it was overcast, but that didn't stop our little fish from getting in and playing until we made her get out!
I had a great weekend with my kiddo!

Swimming!

I took Grace swimming for the first time this summer! On Friday, May 9th, we joined our friends Aubrey, Beck and Jen at the pool for a day full of fun and sunshine! The girls had so much fun splashing and jumping in the water. Both of them were pretty fearless and loved every minute of the day.

I love to watch Grace interacting with her friends. It is amazing to me that she is such a little girl now. There are almost no traces of my baby left!

So nice of her.....

About 2 weeks ago, UPS rang my doorbell. When Grace saw the big, brown box, she was soooo excited. She immediately assumed that there was a present in that box for her. She told me, "Oh, Nandy sent me a present. That so nice of her!"

I tried to explain that it wasn't a present for her, but rather some paperwork for my business. But, she wouldn't hear of it. She just knew that there was a present in that box for her from Nandy. I told her it wasn't from Nandy. She said, "Oh, Nonni sent me a present. That so nice of her!" I said no, it wasn't from Nonni and it wasn't for her. So she replied, "Oh, Nandy sent me a present. That so nice of her!"

She made me put the box on the floor so she could watch me open her present. While I was slicing open the tape, Grace literally wet her pants! I asked her why didn't she go use the potty....and she replied, "I jus' so excited, Mama!"

I pretended there was a lollipop in the box for her....since she was so certain that the box was hers!

A Fun Family Weekend

The weekend after Jeff and I came home from Birmingham, we avoided all of our family and friends and had a great time playing!

On Sunday, we told Grace that we were going to go get sno-cones. It has been a really long time since we did that, so she really had no idea what we were talking about, but she knew that it was something good. First, we went to go eat at Treadgills, then to Zilker Park. Every once in a while, she would ask about the treat. Instead of a sno-cone, she calls it a "nose-cone!"

At Zilker, we rented a canoe and took her on her first canoe ride down to Town Lake. She sat in my lap for a while, then decided she needed to sit in her daddy's lap. She really enjoyed looking for turtles and trying to see the fish in the water.

When we were done canoing , we went to play at the playground, then for our nose-cones...which she LOVED. Since then, she asks for nose-cones at least 2-3 times a week!

A Visit with Nandy

Grace's Nandy came to see us in April (I know, I know, I am such a slacker!). We had a wonderful visit with her. We did quite a bit of shopping and playing and eating. Grace even helped her Nandy in the kitchen. They cooked a wonderful meal for us - steaks, salads, grilled corn on the cob!

Nandy bought her some great book shelves for her room - we all KNOW those were needed...badly! They go great with the baskets and boxes she got. Now, we can actually see Grace's floor!

Grace loves her Nandy and talks about her often! She keeps asking for her to come back again!
