What's That Mean?

What's that mean is one of Grace's favorite questions right now. Every time she hears a new word, her first reply is, "What's that mean?"

Try explaining "smudge" to a three year old!

AND, even funnier, she comes up with the craziest things! The other night, I was reading a book to her named, "A Promise in Every Color." The book is about rainbows. We have had many discussions on rainbows. She has even seen a real one. She tells everyone that a rainbow is a "promise to God" (instead of a promise from God).

Anyway, the first page of the book looks like this:She pointed to the big dark clouds on the left hand side and asked me, quite seriously,

"Mama. Is that God's butt?"

Now, I know you are laughing, so I could just stop here...but if you look closely at the page, you will see the "tee-tee" coming out of his butt. (or the rain, to us adults).

Happy Halloween!!!

Halloween was SO much fun this year. We didn't do as many "events" as we have in years past, because both Grace and I got really sick right before Halloween. But, she had such a great time at the few things we made it to. She kept asking if it was Halloween Day yet.

I tried to talk her into being part of a theme for Halloween. Like, she could be Tinkerbell, Daddy could be Captain Hook and I could be Peter Pan. She said that she wanted to be Captain Hook with daddy. I asked who would be Tinkerbell. She promptly replied, "Nonni!" Then she told everyone that Nonni was going to be Tinkerbell for Halloween. She got it in her head that Nonni was coming to see us for the great holiday. Which, was a splendid idea!

So, Nonni decided to come...and then we got the idea to invite Shanna and the kids! Now, I was more excited about Halloween than Grace was! LOL

After trying to talk Grace into other costumes (a set of Raggedy Ann dolls or she and I could have been cowgirls and daddy a cow, etc, etc), I gave in and took her to the store to get a Captain Hook outfit. When we got there, she saw that Cinderella was a possibility and it was over. Her mind was made up! She wanted to be Princess Cinderella.

We bought the gown and a new tiara. Then, I had to hide it from her, because she kept begging for it!

Finally, she got to wear it to school the day before Halloween! After school, there was a birthday party for her friend, Gracie. She thought that was Halloween and couldn't figure out what happened to the Trick-or-Treating! At the party, Gracie's mom had set up a cookie decorating table. There were enough cookies for each kid to decorate 2. My Grace decorated about 12 of them all on her own. I had to make her stop! Then, she gave Ava (Gracie's little sister) instructions on the best way to eat them!

The next morning, she got up early with daddy. When I finally drug myself from between the sheets, Daddy had already dressed her in her Cinderella gown and given her candy!! I had to bribe her out of it to do our stuff before Mom and the rest got there!
Finally, it was time for Trick or Treating! Aubrey and Beck came over to beg for candy with us. The kids were so much fun to watch. Grace really understood the concept this year. We went next door first. She said, "Trick or Treat!" Our neighbor put some candy in her bag. Then Grace said, "I need more." A few houses later, a bowl was in her reach and Grace took 6-7 pieces! When Aunt Shanna told her to put some back, Aly (who hadn't even got any) took some from her basket to give to the lady so Grace and Abby could keep theirs! Isn't she a sweetie?

Target Snob

My girl is a Target Snob! She loves to shop, and if you ask her where she wants to go, most of the time, she will answer with "TARGET!" A few days ago I told her we were going grocery shopping. She asked if we were going to Target. I told her, no that today we would be at Wal-Mart. She said, "But Target is my favorite." Then she pointed out that we were right there (and we were driving past one!). A few days later we were on our way to Costco, and I got the same conversation...with a "Please, can we go to Target!?"

She loves shopping in general and on Monday (Nov. 3rd) she called her Nandy and begged via voice mail for Nandy to take her to the store cause I wouldn't!

Old and New Friends

My room mate from college came to visit us, bringing her three girls with her. Yes, three! I am overwhelmed just thinking that about that many kids, but Sarah's girls were so well behaved. I was really impressed with them! It was so much fun for me to get to catch up with Sarah - and it was really cool watching our kids play together. I hope that she and I can reconnect more often!
