We went to the dentist today and the tooth isn't dead! YAY! Apparently, the blood from the injury leaked into the tooth (yuck, huh?). If this were a permanent tooth, eventually a dentist would drill a hole into the back and clean out the old dried blood. Since this is a baby tooth, the dentist is hoping that it doesn't get any browner - and said there is even hope of it fading over time. (Fingers crossed).
We go back in 3 months for a check up - hopefully, the tooth will be lighter! She will get all the normal stuff done at that time (cleaning, fluoride, etc). The dentist did take a quick peel and told me all her teeth were healthy and clean! Good news, considering Grace is addicted to sugar!

I can't do it!
Last night, Grace woke up and Jeff decided to put her in bed with him (I was still up). After about an hour, I could hear him snoring all the way into the office. Shortly after that, I could hear Grace crying. When I went in there, she told me that her daddy was snoring very loud and told me to, "Get him."
So, I poked at him and he rolled over and they went back to sleep. About 3 minutes later, I could hear her crying again. Same thing. (I totally felt her pain). I told her that she could sleep with the loud snoring daddy or in her bed. She looked at him, just as he let out a loud snort, and she wailed, "I can't do it!!!"
She went down in her bed - like she should have to begin with!

Grace's Tooth
So...remember the post about Grace falling at the pool? Well, I think her tooth is dead. It's turning black.
We are going to see the dentist for the first time ever on Monday. I'll keep you updated!

So smart...
I just have to brag for a second.
The other day I was putting Grace's flip flops on her. She was in her car seat and I was in the driver's seat, so I was all contorted trying to find her shoes and get them on her. Anyway, I put her shoe on her foot and she said, "Mommy, that's my right shoe." I just ignored her and kept looking for her other shoes. She started giggling and said, "Mommy, you're silly. That's my right shoe." After she repeated herself several times, I looked and it was indeed her right shoe...on her left foot.

No more babies in my house...
Grace is getting older and is leaving all of her baby things behind. She potty trained about 6 months ago and I joked the last thing left that proved she was my baby was the paci!
I haven't worried overly much that she still used a paci to fall asleep. For one, she ONLY used it at nap or bed time. Since she wasn't like those three year olds that sucked it 24/7, I just wasn't concerned. Plus, she usually spit it out once she fell asleep, so she was using it all night.
Before her birthday, I started talking to her about it. Telling her that she was becoming a big girl now and that she would soon have to give all her pacifiers to the babies. On the 9th, she told me that she wanted to give her paci's to Beck (her friend Aubrey's little brother). I had been telling her that when she gave them to a baby, he would give her a gift.
I called Beck's mom and we met yesterday (7-10-08). Grace excitedly gave Beck her pacifiers and received a cute little Melissa and Doug stamp/color pencil set. She was so excited and we immediately came home to play.
Then...it was nap time. I tucked her in, kissed her night-night and started to walk out of the room. She sat straight up and said, "Mommy! I need my paci!" I reminded her that we didn't have them any more and that Beck had them. She picked up her play princess phone and said that she was going to call them. She pushed some buttons and then said into the phone, "Mrs. Jen, I want my paci's back.....yes, I know, but I want them back." I was trying hard to not crack up at this point. I told her again that Beck had them...and (even worse) he was on his way to Oklahoma.
She ended up sending Beck to time out, but falling asleep just fine.
That night, she did much better at bedtime. She asked for it one time, but didn't cry about it. After I left the room, she played for a little while, like she normally does. When she was ready to go to sleep, she started sobbing for her paci and begging me to give it back. I went in there, and reminded her that she gave them to Beck. I had to go with her to her closet where we kept the spares and show her there were none left. She finally went to bed. She woke up in the middle of the night and really wanted it again, but Daddy just put her in our bed and she went right back to sleep.
The next day at nap, she didn't ask for it at all until after she was in her room for about 10 minutes or so. She only said, "I want my paci" over and over for about 2 minutes...no crying. She did the same thing at night time.
Today, for nap, she hasn't even mentioned it! I think my baby is growing up!

Getting so big!
We had Grace's 3 Year Old Well Child Check Up and she is getting so big! Okay, not really, but she thinks she is! LOL. She is still only 27 pounds, but she did get a little taller and is now 36.5 inches tall. I didn't bring my camera for the first time to a well child appointment, and wouldn't you know, she got to wear the cutest little hospital gown? LOL.
She really had a great time and thought the doctor was really funny. Of course, she didn't need any shots, so that could be part of it!
Last night (7-10-08) she told me her blankets were getting to small because her feet keep getting cold! She still uses some of the baby blankets that we used the first week she was born! I guess it is time to go to Target and get some new bedding.

Family
Grace is so blessed to be part of a large family. Family has always been so important to me and it breaks my heart that her first cousins and grandparents live so far away. I hope that time finds us all moving closer together (in an ideal world, everyone would move towards us, because we love where we live!).
When the family is here, I enjoy watching Grace interact with them.

The last of the birthday posts!! YAY!
Grace's birthday was so much fun. When she woke up, she asked if she could have pancakes for breakfast, so we did!

Did I mention that she spent quite a bit of time in the corner on her birthday? I think she was in there about 5 times all total. I guess what they say about 3 is so TRUE!

Fun and Games
We had a couple of pinatas, a slip-n-slide and a bouncy house for the kids at Grace's party. They had so much fun in the back yard playing. I am so glad that we decided to do the party at home. Unless Grace asks for something else, we totally be doing a backyard party again next year.

The Partiers and the Party Poopers!
We had a houseful of party goers - I can't believe how many people love my kid! Which I guess I'm not surprised at since I love her so much myself!
Some of the party-people: the people that made the party happen through time and hard work and also those who partied so hard they fell asleep on the way home!

The Party Poopers: These people just couldn't hang with the young-uns! We had several people disappear to take a nap...some aren't pictured (Granddad).
Uncle Wonderful (aka Randy).jpg)
Lots of adults escaped from the heat and camped out in the air conditioner! I don't have pictures of all the poopers - I was outside with the kids! But you know who you are!
If you aren't pictured, don't get your feelings hurt! I have almost 1000 photos and can't throw them all up here! I want to say THANKS to the grandparents who helped in SO many ways...to Aunt Jeanie for helping take photos when I had to step away to work...to Unc, Rachel, Shawn David and Aunt Jeanie for the water balloons... to Jenn and Jeff for design and video...to Jen and Brad for loaning us tables and chairs and much more (and thanks, Jen for spray painting the shelves that didn't make it on the walls!)...to Kristy for making kettle corn...to Shanna and mom for making that drive (LOL). I can't list everyone who helped so much, so THANKS TO ALL OF YOU!
