One of Grace's favorite sentences right now is, "Gracie do it!" Sometimes, she uses another version of the same sentence, which is, "My do it!" Either way she says it, the meaning is the same - and very clear. She wants to do it all on her own.
My little girl is so independent. Whether it is putting her shoes on by herself, getting into the truck and buckling in by herself, or climbing up and down stairs by herself, the theme is the same: By Herself!
Sometimes she tells me before hand that she wants to do it. Other times, she jerks away from me in frustration when I try to help her and screeches, "GRACIE DO IT!"
It takes her a bit longer to do things by herself. But, when the task is done, the look of pride on her face as she proclaims, "I did it, Mommy." is worth every second of inconvenience for me.
From time to time, she follows her sentence of "My do it." with, "Help, Mommy." I love the fact that even though she is little Miss Independence, she knows that every once in a while, it is okay to ask for help.
